AFTERCARE GUIDE

The aftercare of your new tattoo is very important, but also very simple... keep it clean, keep it creamed!
Traditional aftercare method
Step 1: A few hours after you get home remove any cling film/paper towels applied by your tattoo artist. Gently wash the tattooed area with warm soapy water and rinse well. Let the skin dry or pat dry gently.
It's important to use a soap thats safe to use on your broken skin. Our solid soap bars and green soap foams are designed for this exact job.
Step 2: Now your skin is dryer than a camels elbow, gently massage your chosen aftercare moisturiser into the skin. Apply a thin even layer onto the new tattoo. Don't go over the top! Putting too much moisturiser on can suffocate the skin and prolong the healing process. Our aftercare Butters and Balms will look after you.
Step 3: Repeat! You need to repeat this process 2-3 times a day for the first 2-3 weeks or so. It's important to always wash the tattoo before applying new moisturiser! This will ensure you don't trap any dirty, dusty, doo doo onto your lovely smooth skin.
You'll eventually find yourself in the peeling stage. Don't worry, your tattoo isn't falling off. Light peeling of the skin is normal.. itchy tho! Don't pick or scratch! After the peeling has subsided you can apply moisturiser throughout the day and for the foreseeable. This will prolong the vibrancy and longevity of your new artwork!
Derma film method
Your tattoo artist will most likely do this for you first after the tattoo session has finished. If done correctly this method can greatly speed up the healing process.
Application
Step 1: Clean and dry the tattooed area.
Step 2: Cut the Derma roll to desired length. Peel off protective paper and apply the film to skin. Ensure the film is pressed down all over.
Step 3: Peel back the removable layer taking care not to remove the film underneath.
The Derma film can be left on for several days, allowing the tattoo to fully heal.
If you wish to remove and re apply the film please repeat these steps.
Removal
To remove the film, gently lift the corners and peel away! Easier said than done on some occasions. If the film has a good grip, you can use warm soapy water to help.
